If you haven't read Part 1 of this genMAX series, make sure you start here.
When I was a kid, there was only one thing that I cared about. I wanted to play in the NBA.
I remember sitting at a basketball camp as a middle school kid and one of the high school coaches stood up and said, "If you want to make it to the NBA, you can't go to the beach with your friends. You can't go to the movies with your friends. You have to work 100x harder than anyone else."
From that day on, I made it a point to never go to the beach or movies with my friends.
I didn't have a sip of alcohol until I was 26.
I worked out for hours every single day.
I did every basketball drill imaginable.
And I didn't make it.
I moved into a career as a young strength & conditioning coach. Like many in this industry, we are former athletes wanting to stick around the world of sports. I thought I could help coach athletes reach the elite by imposing my hustle onto them.
I got very lucky in my career to spend many years working in professional sports with the best athletes in the world. I started my career as an intern with the New York Yankees, followed by several years with the Arizona Diamondbacks and finally a stop with the Los Angeles Lakers of the NBA.
When I was working with the pros, I noticed that their work ethic was a lot different than what I had expected. It was nothing like mine. I'm not saying they didn't work hard but I am saying their work was a lot different.
These were guys that had reached the peak of human performance. They cracked the code that every strength coach and personal trainer are constantly trying to crack and yet, nobody is acknowledging the difference in what we are teaching aspiring professionals and what is reality.
I saw the reality every single day. Right in front of my eyes I watched it play out and I wasn't going to ignore it. I decided to become an educator because I am determined to show you what nobody else is willing to. I am hell-bent on spreading the word of what is clearly the holy grail of human performance.
I want to show you how to achieve your genetic maximum...your genMAX.
Through hundreds of hours of research and countless sessions working with MLB and NBA players, I uncovered that the secret is in their neurology.
The key to your genMAX lies in your brain. It has the ability to either give you everything or take it all away.
Think about a time when you were having an unusually explosive day. Maybe you were lifting more weight than normal. Maybe you were dunking better than normal. Maybe you were running faster than normal. These are not random occurrences. Some series of events occurred to allow the brain to give the "go-ahead" to your genMAX. The opposite happens on your bad days as well.
Now before you start thinking that I'm going to start telling you to think happy thoughts and tell your mom that you love her, there's something you must know...
THERE IS A SCIENCE TO ACHIEVEMENT
This is physical. This is not some pseudo, cloud-based, drink the kool-aid voodoo science. You can manufacture this. And I will show you how.
genMAX is about having your best day...EVERY DAY.
